+ Amenity Details
LINENS AND SOAPS All linens (towels, washcloths, sheets, dish cloths) are provided. Bath bars and hand soaps are also included.
AIR CONDITIONING Yes! We do have air conditioning to keep you cool on hot summer days. In contrast with loud traditional A/C units, our mini-split operated air conditioning is very quiet so you will not be disturbed while sleeping!
HEAT Yes! We have a remote-controlled mini-split heating system to keep you warm on even the coldest winter days. Original baseboard heat is present as well for additional warmth if desired.
INTERNET We've got WiFi! We have the best WiFi that is possible to get at our location, BUT it is satellite internet and is affected by the weather and heavy usage times in the county. Do expect to be able to browse the web, but do not expect to be able to stream movies or music. Sometimes it will, and sometimes it won't!
TV We do not have cable/satellite TV but encourage you to enjoy the large DVD collection. The master bedroom has a 40" HDTV. The second bedroom is equipped with its own TV as well.
2 WHEEL DRIVE ACCESSIBLE The cabin is on a well-maintained state road and the approach and parking is flat, so it is accessible by two wheel drive vehicles in all but the most severe of storms!
PET FRIENDLY Goldfinch is pet-friendly! Mostly we expect dogs, but cats may be welcome as well. If your pet is not house friendly (chewing, scratching, general chaos and destruction...) we ask that you kindly leave them elsewhere OR bring a kennel for their time in the house. A $25 pet fee covers up to two pets for the entire duration of your stay.
NO SMOKING This is a NON SMOKING vacation rental. Smoking is permitted outside. Ashtray is provided.
+ The Neighborhood
Goldfinch Cabin is located near town and only steps from the southern entrance to the Appalachian Trail. We would guess that we are 78 steps away, but haven't actually counted :) The AT will cruise you straight on in to Hot Springs, no car required, and you can expect it to take 5-15 minutes depending on your ability level and where you are headed in town.
A three minute drive will land you at the famous Hot Springs Spa and Resort, where you can soak in Hot Springs' naturally heated mineral tubs. For a real "day at the spa," check out their massages as well!
We are across the street from the Laughing Heart Lodge, which is a beautiful building that is an old Jesuit Retreat Center and is now operated as a predominantly private events center. There are public yoga and dance classes periodically, and guests of Goldfinch have an open invite from the owners to enjoy their beautiful garden and grounds!
There are other houses on our road, but they are not visible from the cabins, as we are surrounded on three sides by forest.## + Getting Around To get around Hot Springs, you'd best strap on your walking shoes. We are a quaint little mountain town, and you can walk to everything. We don't even have a stoplight! You may walk or drive to town from the cabin. There is plenty of free parking in town on all days excluding festival days etc.
There is no public transportation in Hot Springs, but Bluff Mountain Outfitters offers a shuttle service to popular hiking areas.
+ Guest Access
Guests have access to all areas photographed and mentioned, including the parking area, gardens, porch, and interior. The keys will be left in a lock box at the front door so you may come and go as you wish. on your own schedule!

"We loved this little cottage ! Very clean and in a great location. Our grandchildren had a wonderful time while we waited for my daughter and son-in-law to hike some on the Appalachian Trail. The owner was so friendly and kind . She made us feel very welcome. Nice cool air conditioning and very clean. Easy to find and very quiet . Would go back again for sure ! We rented the extra bedroom for two nights and the cottage was just right for seven people. We enjoyed the birds and flowers in the yard also ! Very cute place." -Patricia
"Natalie, Andrew, and Chloe, Thank you for the sweet, comfortable, accommodations. The details were thoughtful and appreciated. We walked around town, soaked in the hot springs tub, and ate well at the local restaurants. The weather was perfect and we made it to Max Patch without a thunderstorm ( a must see!). Thank you for your hospitality." The Pharr Family
"I met my daughter and her friend who are thru-hiking the AT for a weekend visit. This was a perfect spot, in that they could walk to the cabin easily from the trail. The cabin was cozy and clean. It also has a super mud room where they could store their gear without having to bring it all into the main cabin area....loved the shaker peg racks, so convenient!" -Bev
"I had a wonderful experience at Goldfinch. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. It was an easy walk into town. I loved being across the street from the Laughing Heart Lodge, seeing and sometimes talking to the thru hikers as they came in. Natalie had delicious cookies waiting for us. Thank you, they were good. " -Connie
" Natalie's place is awesome. So close to the AT we walked basically right by it after our hike from Max Patch to Hot Springs. The cabin is very close to the small town so it was easy to walk in for dinner and to pick up some groceries. It's also very quiet and up on a hill away from the 'busy' road. The cabin was very clean and the beds were very comfy after our long hike. Natalie was so helpful and let us check in early which was awesome. When we had an issue with a clogged toilet she was super responsive and was there in 10 minutes to fix it. If I ever make it back to hot springs I will definitely try to stay with Natalie again. " -Sophie
